User Interface

The goal of user interface design is to make the user's interaction with your software as simple and efficient as possible. Good user interface design facilitates finishing the task at hand without drawing unnecessary attention to itself. Your existing branding elements may be utilized to apply a theme or style to the interface. The design process of an interface must balance the meaning of its visual elements that conform the mental model of operation and the functionality of those elements from a technical engineering perspective. This balance must take place in order to create a system that is both usable and easy to adapt to the changing user's needs. The system should speak the users' language and use concepts familiar to the user, rather than system-oriented technical terms. It should also follow real world conventions, making information appear in a natural and logical order.

User interface design is involved in a wide range of projects from computer systems, to software and programs, to commercial SaaS systems. All of these projects involve much of the same basic human interaction, yet also require some computer skills and knowledge.  Interface design should seek to minimize the user's memory load and making objects, actions, and options visible. The user should not have to remember information from one part of the dialogue to another.
